Creating A Master Bedroom Sanctuary ~ Hilton Head Real Estate

Master bedrooms should be a sanctuary for us to relax and recharge. We should love spending time in these spaces, keeping them soft and romantic. Potential buyers put a lot of emphasis on the kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom. They want these spaces to be updated and clean. Finding a style that you love can be a daunting task. I tend to go with neutral colors for the walls and bedding and add decorative touches as I feel necessary. Simple touches can really bring out a room's charm.

 

Nothing says sweet dreams like a white room. The marble fireplace is magnificent and I love the blue ceiling. Ahhh!

This master suite is simple and beautiful. What a great use of neutrals and an added  touch of glam with the chandelier.

I am especially fond of the tongue and groove ceiling with lacquer paint. The bamboo blinds and custom shades/draperies really finish off the space nicely.

A seating area is always a nice add to the master suite. It seems like an excellent space to get your day started with a cup of coffee or tea all while taking in the views.

Sunny Days Are On The Way

Rain Rain Go Away.

I am ready for some sunny days on Hilton Head. Hopefully today and tomorrow will be the last of the rain. With spring right around the corner (Yippee!), I’m sharing a few cute Easter ideas that I found along the way. Our kids love Easter and we have special traditions that we keep each year, one being Resurrection Eggs. The boys love this and it’s a great way to share the story of Easter.

It's Back! Decorating Your Home With Brass.

Is brass back? Looks as though it has made a comeback.  I’m not talking about the builder grade polished door knobs, chandeliers and fixtures. I am referring to beautiful antique oil rubbed or aged brass. I have been seeing it everywhere lately and it is really growing on me. I have always thought of it as too fancy for my taste but I have been seeing it used in so many different ways. Everyone has room for brass in their home.  What are your thoughts on brass?

I'm a big fan of the site Houzz (www.houzz.com). For me, it is a great site for home decorating tips and inspirations. I am a visual person so I enjoy browsing through the idea rooms. Since spring is fast approaching us, I have been focused on outdoor living spaces. I am tired of being cold and cooped up inside. I am looking forward to those warm sunny days of playing outside. Houzz is providing me with some fabulous ideas for our outdoor spaces. I can't wait to get started.

I found a great article about decluttering your home. This is great for all you sellers out there. The best way to impress that potential buyer is to remove most of your personal items and create a minimalist feeling in the home. That way it is easier for the buyer to envision their furniture and items in the space.

"Super-Size Your Courage" & Ride On

 

I am taking a break from real estate to talk about a lifelong passion of mine.

Let me start by saying I am a 38 year old “re-rider”. I will explain…I grew up riding horses and took a hiatus to have two amazing boys. Riding horses has always been a keen interest of mine and during my years off, I felt as though something was missing. So back into the horse world I went. Being a re-rider is a humbling and challenging experience. I may not be the rider I was but I have not forgotten how I once rode. My first time back in the saddle was not exactly as I had planned. I envisioned it would be like riding a bike. You never forget that, right? I soon found out that my muscles had forgotten what to do and had to be reconditioned. It takes practice, practice, practice.

Nothing like a trail ride with a good friend!

I’ve had so much encouragement along the way but one person in particular has been a huge help to me, my trainer, Allison Campbell. She has been patient and understanding throughout the process. She has pushed me in the most comfortable ways to help me achieve my goals and gives me the reassurance I need to complete tasks that wouldn’t normally do on my own. I always end my lessons feeling a sense of accomplishment. 

The latest and greatest, Beets. I look like a giddy kid in love. I'm one lucky girl!

Knowing my love for horses is great and my pockets are not so deep, Allison has found ways to make my dreams come true. Whether it’s finding me an affordable horse to lease or letting me ride a horse she’s working on, she has gone out of her way to help me.

I ride at Rose Hill Equestrian Center and I can’t say enough good things about this barn. Managed and run by Hall of Fame Jockey, Eddie Maple and his wife Kate, the barn is a safe sanctuary for all horses. It’s truly a “happy horse” barn.
