Fourth of July Fireworks and Fun on Hilton Head Island

fireworks.jpg

One of the busiest weeks on Hilton Head Island is here, the week of the Fourth of July. Saturday we as a nation and those of us on Hilton Head will celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence from July 4, 1776.

If you are fortunate enough to be celebrating Independence Day on Hilton Head Island, watching fireworks is most likely the foremost activity on your mind. The most popular place to view fireworks is Shelter Cove Marina, located mid-island. The fireworks start at 9:00pm. There are plenty of restaurants from which you may choose to dine prior to the display. Due to the huge influx of people Shelter Cove receives for this event, there will be two parking lots available with complementary shuttles. If you are within walking or biking distance of this location or the following, that would my preferred mode of transportation.

On the South End of Hilton Head, Harbour Town in Sea Pines is also hosting a Fourth of July Celebration. Sea Pines is providing a shuttle for ease of parking as well. Fireworks will be at 9:00pm after live music, activities, and plenty of food and drink at one of Sea Pines Resort’s restaurants.

Fret not if you are on the North End of Hilton Head. Skull Creek Boathouse will also host a firework display with live music beginning at 6:00pm.

Please keep in mind that all locations will be very busy. Whether you are a guest on our Island or resident, be careful and mindful of the people around you. We are all here to have a great time and celebrate a proud day in our nation’s history.

As always, if the thought of leaving this beautiful island is too much to bear, please call us at Windmill Harbour Real Estate Company, (843) 681-5600. We are happy to help make this your home too!

Fishing, Fathers, and the Lowcountry

photo 1.JPG

Summer is a wonderful time for outdoorsmen here in the Lowcountry and on Hilton Head Island. A favorite activity is fishing. Surrounded by ocean, creeks, and rivers, there are so many options for the avid angler or a casual fishing trip.

This time of year, Windmill Harbour Real Estate Company's Joe Lucchesi and his son Nick love to take their boat out into the tidal creeks in search of Redfish. They hop out of the boat and wade the mud flats during high tide keeping their eyes peeled for fins. Once they spot some action, Joe and Nick pull out their fly rods.

In addition to Redfish, this time of year our waters yield trout, tarpon, red fish, spanish mackerel, cobia, sharks and more. If you are looking for a great gift for Father’s Day, consider taking Dad on a fishing trip. What could be a better gift than spending time on the water making memories?
