Happy Trails

A great place to see the untouched landscapes of the lowcountry is to visit Pinckney Island. Located between Hilton Head Island and the mainland, Pinckney Island offers a day of exploring. Hike over 14 miles of nature trails or bike to the tip of the island and back. On Pinckney Island, you’ll find soaring pine forests, fresh water ponds, salt marshes and tidal hammocks. This island offers more wildlife than you will find anywhere else in the area. You’ll likely see a variety of birds including the Southern Bald Eagle, deer, turtles, and alligators to name a few. As you walk or cycle along, look for the information signs describing the area and the wildlife you may encounter.  Definitely worth the trip. The Coastal Discovery Museum (843-689-6767 X223) even offers guided tours.

Pumpkin Arrangement Classes

Every fall, I have these grand plans to carve beautiful pumpkins, decorate my dinner table, and create an inviting entrance to our home. So I head to the local pumpkin patch to find those perfect carving pumpkins plus the unique fairy tail, blue and white pumpkins for the dining table. Once I have them home, I have a hard time arranging them. Let’s just say I don’t have the best eye for design. So I found a great way to help. The Garden Gate Nursery in Bluffton is hosting pumpkin arrangement classes. Thought this was a great idea and wanted to share.   Here's the info
